Encounter king raped, married and divorced his informer

Ravindra Jaisinghrao Medsingh, a senior police inspector (who claims he has killed 17 gangsters in encounter) attached to Local Arms-2 division, Tardeo, Mumbai police, is facing serious allegations. A woman police informer has made several complaints (copies available with ABI) against him alleging that Medsingh raped her on several occasions, later married and divorced her. Now he is threatening her of dire consequences.

31-year-old Jassi (name changed to protect her identity) is a resident of Goregaon (East) and Diva (East). 12th standard pass-out Jassi is full time police informer. She has provided all types of information like drugs, fake currency, hawala racket, fake CDs, dancing bars and VIP prostitutes etc.

According to Jassi all top police officials are corrupt. They are interested in Todpaani only. She has earned a lot of money in passing information to them.

First time in February 2005 she met Medsingh in Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), Bandra unit office. She had gone to give tip about brown sugar dealing, that time Jassi was 22-year-old.

Medsingh laid a trap and caught a lady with brown sugar. Jassi got happy. But instead of arrest the lady Medsingh released her taking bribe. On any tip Medsingh caught accused but released them after taking money.

“Meri kisi bhi tip par Medsingh accused ko pakadte lekin NIL panchnama banakar, todpani karke chhod dete, mujhe ek bhi paisa (reward) nahin dete,” said Jassi.

In September 2005 Jassi had gone to Kolhapur with another police team. She had tip, that Maharaja Travels was involved in hawala transactions. Medsingh reached there. They booked room in same hotel where Jassi was staying. Medsingh proposed her there stating “dekho main tumhe kitna pyar karta hun ki tumahre peechhe-peechhe Kolhapur aa gaya.”

“Tu majhi rani aahe, (you are my queen)” Medsingh said to Jassi. Medsingh first time raped her in Kolhapur.

Raped in police station, lodge, car and running train

After returning from Kolhapur Medsingh started raping her on routine basis promising her that he will marry her. He raped her in lodges in Dahisar (Samadhan Hotel), Malad Madh, Alibaugh, Pune, Aurangabad, Jammu and Kashmir, Airoli, Rabale, Taloja (Santosh Hotel), Masjid Bunder and inside car at Aarey Colony Jungle and Borivali National park.

During 2007 to 2010 Medsingh was posted in Kasturbamarg police station, Borivali (East). He was raping her daily in Kasturbamarg police station. The police station staff was aware about relationship of Jassi and Medsingh. One day as she entered in police station then senior inspector requested her stating “madam thoda jaldi karna. DCP saheb ki visit hai.”

On several occasions lodge owners had refused to allot them room saying there was major age deference between them. Then Medsingh was 46 and Jassi was 22-year-old. She seemed like his daughter. Several times the patrolling police had caught them in Borivali national park and Aarey colony while they were having sex in the car. Every time police released them saying, “jaane do apne hi saheb hai.”

Jassi told ABI that once Medsingh had gone to arrest a lady in Kolkata. He was accompanied with four other staff including woman constable. He forcibly took her (Jassi) in Kolkata. Surprisingly, Medsingh had physical relations in-front of staff in running (Geetanjali) train several times covered by curtain. Not enough, the team caught the accused. The trip was for four days but Medsingh forcibly halted eight days in Kolkata. He had sexual intercourse with Jassi in hotel room also. After they returned to Mumbai, someone from the staff complained to his senior and Medsingh got a MEMO.

25 times pregnant, aborted

According to Jassi she got pregnant more than 25 times. Everytime Medsingh would force her to abort the child. On June 5, 2006 she first aborted the baby in Anupam Nursing home Goreagon. Later he arranged a lady doctor who aborted the child in her house at Goregaon, Belapur, Dombivli (Lodha complex) and in Diva. He also managed abortion medicines from Shukla nursing home, Dahisar.

Married in February 2011

Although, Medsingh was married and father of two children, he married (marriage certificate available with ABI) Jassi on February 21, 2011 in Thane Sub-registrar office. Till then Medsingh had not disclosed that he was married and father of two kids. He introduced his sons as son of his widow sister. When his wife called him, Medsingh told Jassi that his maid (Baai) had called.

Matter turned ugly in May 2012 when his real wife Sujata came to know about his marriage with Jassi. Medsingh started forcing her for divorce. In July 2012, he himself filed an application on Jassi’s name claiming she wants divorce. He was continuously promising that after divorce he will treat her as wife.

On December 17, 2012 he succeeded to get divorce. Copy available with ABI. After getting divorced for sometimes Medsingh continued physical relationship with her.

But later his behavior got changed and he started ignoring and threatening her. He threatened her that if she leaves him, he will implicate her engineer brother in false case like rape or robbery. Medsingh’s wife Sujata also registered NC in Borivali police station against Jassi of extortion and blackmailing.

On March 15, 2014 Jassi registered NC (copy available with ABI) against Medsingh and his wife. Both went at her Diva house. Medsingh allegedly fired one round of bullet in air threatening her to withdraw her complaints. Before this Medsingh had fired three times in air.

No action on Medsingh

After registering the complaints no police officials are taking action on Medsingh. “I am running from pillar to post” said Jassi.

After repeated attempts Medsingh was not available for comment as his both numbers were continuously switched off.
