“Senior Inspector Ravindra Medsingh raped me too”

A 42-year-old woman approached ABI (Akela Bureau of Investigation) and told that senior police inspector (so called encounter king) Ravindra Jaisingh Medsingh raped her too. Medsingh is already facing internal departmental inquiry for raping a woman police informer on several occasions.

On April 25, 2014 ABI had published an article under headline, “Encounter king raped, married and divorced his informer.” A woman police informer had complained against Medsingh, a senior police inspector (who claims he has killed 17 gangsters in encounter) attached to Local Arms (LA-2) division, Tardeo, Mumbai police, alleging that he raped her on several occasions, later married and divorced her. Now he is threatening her of dire consequences. Now, a woman has complained to Commissioner of Police, Rakesh Maria alleging that Medsingh raped her too in his private car threatening to kill her 19-year-old son and 49-year-old husband. Maria has initiated an Inquiry in to the matter. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sharda Raut, who is also head of special women cell formed by Maria, is investigating the matter.

Approximately In year-2002, a woman Madhu Jain (name changed to protect identity) had gone to file complaint against her husband in Dahisar police station. Then duty officer Medsingh attended Madhu and registered NC (Non-Cognizable) against her husband. Medsingh called her husband in police station. Madhu, a housewife was then approximately 30-32-year-old and very beautiful. Medsingh asked her mobile number in-front of her husband but she refused. But Medsingh gave his own mobile number asking call any time for any help. Medsingh released her husband after warned.

Approximately, in year-2003 the couple met with fights again. Madhu called up Medsingh. He was then posted at Dahisar unit of crime branch. Medsingh called them in crime branch office. He asked Madhu to go home. Medsingh abused, slapped and asked her husband to stand up putting hands up whole night and naked. He thrashed him with belt.

“Medsingh bashed me badly with belt, kept me naked whole night. He asked me if my son was my own or any other person,” Madhu’s husband told ABI.

The next day he told entire episode to Madhu that how Medsingh tortured him. Madhu called Medsingh and asked why he tortured his husband much more? Medsingh replied -“I have done a favour for you, this is all just for you.”

Later Medsingh started calling her offering to come for tea in restaurant.

Approximately, In February -March 2003, Medsingh called Madhu to his office. He told her that he loved her. He asked her to have an affair with him.

Madhu alleged Medsingh was continuing developing and creating misunderstanding between husband and wife for his malafied intention. One day Medsingh called Madhu at Borivali (west) railway station. He told that her husband buys indecent books. He goes to Chanakya bar regularly and have affair with bar girls.

On another occasion Medsingh asked Madhu to come at Mira Road for urgent work. Madhu reached but Medsingh not come. He asked her husband to go Mira Road and see what his wife is doing there.

One day, Medsingh forcibly took her to the Sanjay Gandhi National park in Borivali. He pointed his service revolver at her and raped her in car. He threatened that if she opens mouth to police he will kill her son and husband. He will also spread the news (rumour) that she had an illicit affair with him.

“We were afraid because Medsingh was a police officer. He was claiming that he had killed 17 criminals in fake encounter. He can do anything, even kill our family,” said Madhu.

“Medsingh Mujhse hamesha kahta tha “Tumhare complaint karne se mera kuchh nahin bigadane wala. Ansar Peerjade, Sunil Deshmukh, Anil Mahabole and Rajendra Thakur like police officers are in my pocket,” said Madhu.

On September 7, 2012 around 8.30pm Medsingh went at Madhu’s residence. Shockingly, Medsingh told Madhu’s husband that he has physical relation with his wife for the past 10 years. He performs better sex with her than him. His wife is characterless. Medsingh had accompanied with a lady introduced as his wife. That lady also said, your’s wife has physical relation with her (my) husband. Your wife herself took my husband for sex from Dahisar police chowkie to lodge.

As woman tried to call on police helpline number 100, Medsingh escaped threatening, “If she (prostitutes) refuses to have physical relationship continue with him he will destroy her family.” Then Madhu had registered complaint (NC) in Dahisar police station against Medsingh.

Recently Madhu met then Commissioner of Police, Satyapal Singh and complained against Medsingh. Singh forwarded complaint to Vijay Chavan, Additional Commissioner of Police, (Naigaon headquarter) for further investigation. Surprisingly, instead of investigating the matter Chavan settled the matter.

Shocking, after complaining to top cops likes Satyapal and Vijay Chavan, Medsingh called Madhu on her mobile number. He threatened that if she makes complaints against him he will destroy her and her family.

Helpless, Madhu’s husband filed write petition in Bombay High Court demanding strict action on Medsingh.

“Medsingh continuing harassing and threating to us. He has destroyed our happy life. This is real face of Mumbai Police. Women are not safe in her house. Uniformed police officers are raping women. We are running from pillar to post. Top cops too are not showing interest in taking action on rapist Medsingh. They are busy only making speeches and schemes for women,” said Madhu.

After repeated attempts Medsingh was not available for comment as his three mobiles phones were continuously switched off. Even his wife’s mobile phone remained switched off.
